What I need is the dandelion in the spring. The bright yellow that means rebirth instead of destruction. The promise that life can go on, no matter how bad our losses. That it can be good again. And only Peeta can give me that.
So after, when he whispers, “You love me. Real or not real?” I tell him, “Real”.

“And remember this. I’m not allowed to bet, but if I could, my money would be on you.”
“Truly?” I whisper.
“Truly,” says Cinna. He leans down and kisses me on the forehead. “Good luck, girl on fire.” And then a glass cylinder is lowering around me, breaking our handhold, cutting him off from me. He taps his fingers under his chin. Head high.

“Did you love Annie right away, Finnick?” I ask.
“No.” a long time passes before he adds, “She crept up on me.“

For some reason this scene still Does Things to me whenever I watch it. Jack and Kate were never my huge favorites as a couple, but at the end of the We All Die On A Dharma Submarine episode when Kate was crying and saying “I couldn’t find you,” I finally got them. They were always there for each other; they were each others Constants. And this was such a sad, lovely, perfect ending for them.
See, sometimes we must let the blow fall by degrees. Give him time to find the strength to face it.

“This is actually a new category. First time ever. I guess there were a lot of write-in ballots, and, um, well, t-the prom committee asked me to read this. “We’re not good friends. Most of us never found the time to get to know you, but that doesn’t mean we haven’t noticed you. We don’t talk about it much, but it’s no secret that Sunnydale High isn’t really like other high schools. A lot of weird stuff happens here. But whenever there was a problem or something creepy happened, you seemed to show up and stop it. Most of the people here have been saved by you or helped by you at one time or another. We’re proud to say that the class of ‘99 has the lowest mortality rate of any graduating class in Sunnydale history, and we know at least part of that is because of you. So the senior class offers its thanks and gives you this. It’s from all of us, and it has written here, “Buffy Summers, Class Protector”.”
